Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i? GLMMs showed no significant effects of ACT on subjective hearing capacity (SSQ-12), listening effort, or speech-in-noise intelligibility (OLSA) in either group. → Ockelmann 2025
Evidence¶
Ockelmann 2025¶
Ockelmann, J., Scherpiet, S., Stropahl, M. & Giroud, N. (2025). Personalized and gamified auditory-cognitive training improves naturalistic speech-in-noise comprehension in older adults with hearing loss. npj Science of Learning. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41539-025-00369-4
q3 · i? · causal · r2
GLMMs on SSQ-12, listening-effort ratings, and OLSA thresholds from the RCT. There were "no significant effects of ACT" on any of the three measures; the session-by-group interaction for subjective hearing was also not significant. Higher PTAs were significantly associated with OLSA (OR = 1.21, p < 0.001).
"The results from generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) indicated no significant effects of ACT on subjective hearing capacity, listening effort, or speech-in-noise intelligibility."
