q4 i3 The pooled correlation between autonomy need satisfaction and well-being is statistically significantly positive. → Amanda Vite 2024
q4 i2 The pooled correlation between autonomy need frustration and ill-being is statistically significantly positive. → Amanda Vite 2024

Random-effects multilevel meta-analysis (RVE) of correlations from 90 reports on K-12 youth. The review reports that "the overall average correlations between ANS and well-being and ANF and ill-being were statistically significantly positive"; Table 2 lists r = .37 for ANS-WB and r = .34 for ANF-IB.
"As expected, the overall average correlations between ANS and well-being and ANF and ill-being were statistically significantly positive (see Table 3 for full results)."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Autonomy need satisfaction and autonomy need frustration are each negatively correlated with outcomes among K-12 youth (ill-being and well-being respectively) — possibly the same claim (merge candidate)
- Consistent with the dual process model, autonomy-outcome correlations are stronger when the valence of need experience and outcome match — related
- Study region significantly moderates the ANS-well-being correlation among K-12 youth, with the abstract reporting a stronger association in East Asian contexts — related
