Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i? Average gains of trained (15.0 seconds) and control (15.9 seconds) groups agreed, showing neither facilitation nor interference. → Poffenberger 1915

Controlled training experiment: after 100 trials canceling 3's and 5's separately, groups were tested on canceling groups containing 4 and 7, a task with no identical elements and no need to break trained bonds. Gains agreed at 15.0 versus 15.9 seconds.
"If the average gains in the trained and control group are compared, the two will be found to agree, 15.0 and 15.9 respectively. The probable errors of these averages show that they are fairly reliable."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Where a test requires breaking previously formed bonds and forming new ones, training produces interference rather than transfer — related
- Where there are no identical bonds between stimulus and response in two processes, training in one produces neither transfer nor interference in the other — a broader claim this one bears on
- Where identical elements exist in two situations, training in one produces positive transfer to the other — related
