T-test comparing subsamples of the Add Health Wave I data: healthy group (N = 897) versus chronic medical condition group (N = 629). The chronic group's mean belonging was lower, "with an effect size in the small range (d = 0.23; Cohen, 1988)".
"The healthy group had a mean of 3.78 (SD = 0.68), whereas the group with chronic health conditions had a mean of 3.61 (SD = 0.80). The mean difference was significantly different than zero (t(1056) = 3.687, p < .001), with an effect size in the small range (d = 0.23; Cohen, 1988)."
