Evidence¶
Fandakova Yana 2021¶
Fandakova Yana, Gruber Matthias J. (2021). States of curiosity and interest enhance memory differently in adolescents and in children. Developmental Science, 24(1), e13005. https://doi.org/10.1111/desc.13005
q2 · i2 · associational · r2
Exploratory correlational analysis relating individual curiosity-based enhancement of trivia answer recall to curiosity-based enhancement of face recognition. The study reports "a significant positive correlation (Pearson’s r = .23, pone-tailed = .036)"; controlling for age did not change the result (r = .23, pone-tailed = .04).
"The results showed a significant positive correlation (Pearson’s r = .23, pone-tailed = .036; Figure 4) such that children who showed a greater benefit of curiosity for trivia answer recall were also most likely to show an enhancement in face memory between the high- and low-curiosity conditions"
