Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i2 Women in the highest quartile of daily racism had 2.75 times the odds of poor subjective cognitive function compared to women in the lowest quartile, with a significant increasing trend across quartiles. → Coogan P 2020
q3 i2 The association was graded across quartiles, with multivariable ORs increasing from 1.54 in quartile 2 to 2.75 in quartile 4 (P trend < .0001). → Coogan P 2020

Prospective cohort analysis of 17,323 African American women aged 55+ in the Black Women's Health Study using multinomial logistic regression. The multivariable ORs for poor compared to good SCF "increased from 1.54 (95% CI 1.32 to 1.79) in quartile 2, to 1.88 (95% CI 1.61 to2.19) in quartile 3, to 2.75 (95% CI 2.34 to 3.23) in quartile 4". The printed effect size for the highest versus lowest quartile contrast is OR = 2.75 (95% CI 2.34 to 3.23).
"The multivariable ORs for poor compared to good SCF in the highest quartile of daily racism increased from 1.54 (95% CI 1.32 to 1.79) in quartile 2, to 1.88 (95% CI 1.61 to2.19) in quartile 3, to 2.75 (95% CI 2.34 to 3.23) in quartile 4 (P trend < .0001)"

- Institutional racism exposure is associated with poorer subjective cognitive function in African American women in a graded manner — related
- Depression and insomnia mediate a substantial proportion of the association between racism exposure and poor subjective cognitive function — related
- Racism reported 12 years earlier (1997) shows similar but attenuated associations with subjective cognitive function compared to 2009 reports — related
- Both memory-specific and non-memory cognitive questions show similar associations with racism exposure — related
