Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i2 The review reports, citing Matlen et al. (2020, Experiment 4), that same/different judgment accuracy improved substantially with direct placement for shape triplet pairs (d = .49). → Benjamin D. Jee 2022

The article attributes this to prior experiments it did not conduct: Matlen et al. (2020) found "consistently more accurate" comparison with direct placement, with d = .49 for shape triplet pairs (Experiment 4). The benefit extends to children aged 6 and 8 and to middle schoolers and adults on complex images (Simms et al., 2019).
"Prior research indicates that comparison is not only faster, but is consistently more accurate when placement is direct as opposed to impeded (Matlen et al., 2020). Substantial improvements in the accuracy of same/different judgments have been found with shape triplet pairs like those in Fig. 3 (d = .49; Matlen et al., 2020, Experiment 4)"
