Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i? Kruskal-Wallis tests found no significant difference in gini-coefficient equality of participation between control, GAT, and GAT + Prompt conditions at the end of either collaborative task, so H1 was rejected. → Strauß 2021

q3 · i? · causal · r2
Field experiment in a university online course: 61 students in 16 groups (topic #3) and 54 students in 13 groups (topic #4), randomly assigned to control, GAT, or GAT + Prompt. The Kruskal-Wallis test "revealed no significant difference between the conditions in terms of equality of participation"; H1 was rejected. Equivalence was not tested.
"However, a Kruskal-Wallis test revealed no significant difference between the conditions in terms of equality of participation at the end of topic #3 H(2) = 0.463, p > 0.05, or topic #4 H(2) = 0.91, p > 0.05."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- More unequal distribution of participation in online collaboration groups is associated with lower satisfaction with the collaboration
- Tentative evidence that groups receiving the collaboration support more often achieved near-equal participation, since most groups failing the gini criterion were controls — reports the opposite
- Participation within teams was fairly equal in all conditions, with Gini coefficients close to zero and no significant between-condition differences — possibly the same claim (merge candidate)
