Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i2 At the 3-week follow-up, haptics showed a significant main effect on object recall (ηp² = 0.20), and participants in the only-vision condition recalled significantly fewer objects than those in the vision-and-haptics condition. → Magdalena Novak & Stephan Schwan 2021

In the follow-up survey (n = 115 of 163), ANCOVA on delayed free recall (M = 3.15, SD = 1.52 of 6) controlling for prior knowledge and interest showed "significant main effects for vision" and haptics; post hoc tests showed only-vision recalled significantly fewer objects than vision-and-haptics.
"we found significant main effects for vision, F(1,109) = 9.52, p =. 0 0 3 ,ηp2 = 0.08, and haptics, F(1,109) = 27.10, p <. 0 0 1 ,ηp2 = 0.20, but no significant interaction effect"

Related Claims¶
- Touching or seeing real objects improves immediate free recall of those objects compared with no objects — related
- Seeing objects (with or without touch) improves immediate knowledge acquisition about the objects compared with touch alone — related
- The immediate knowledge advantage for vision over touch-only does not persist at three-week follow-up — related
