Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i1 Accuracy in the incongruent (inhibition) block of the HF task was positively and significantly correlated with fluid intelligence (ρ = 0.20, p = .017), holding even after controlling for RT and verbal WM. → Ger Ebru 2023

Pre-registered correlational analysis of N = 147 kindergarten children (Mage = 6.5 years) tested individually on tablets. Spearman correlation between HF incongruent-block accuracy and RIAS fluid intelligence: "ρ = 0.20, p = .017"; the correlation held when controlling for verbal WM (ρ = 0.18, p = .034).
"Regarding inhibition, accuracy in the incongruent block of HF was positively and significantly correlated with fluid intelligence (ρ = 0.20, p = .017; Figure 2a) even after controlling for RT"
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Mean RT in HF blocks is negatively correlated with visuospatial WM and mixed-block RT positively with intelligence — related
- Inhibition accuracy is marginally correlated with verbal WM but not visuospatial WM in kindergarten children — related
- Exploratory WM-task measures correlate with EF indices: inhibition accuracy with correct colors, PES mixed with verbal span, congruency effect with correct locations — related
- Mean RT in the shifting block is positively correlated with intelligence, counterintuitively, in kindergarten children — related
- Verbal WM correlates with intelligence but visuospatial WM does not in kindergarten children — related
- Shifting accuracy and shift cost show no association with intelligence or WM in kindergarten children — related
- Post-error slowing in EF shows no significant association with intelligence or WM in kindergarten children — related
