Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i? Neither interference control nor response inhibition significantly related to communicative perspective-taking performance in this adolescent sample. → Nilsen 2017

Nilsen, E. S., & Bacso, S. A. (2017). Cognitive and Behavioural Predictors of Adolescents’ Communicative Perspective-taking and Social Relationships. Adolescence. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.adolescence.2017.01.004

Inhibitory control was measured via a Stroop interference control task and a stop-signal response inhibition task (STOP-IT). The two measures were not significantly correlated (r = -.15, p = .37) and were examined separately; neither showed significant relations with communicative perspective-taking, so inhibitory control was excluded from regressions.
"As no significant relations emerged between the inhibitory control measures and communicative perspective-taking, regression analyses did not include inhibitory control."
Discussion¶
Learner Variables¶
- Executive Function — predictor: learners who differ on it differ in outcomes
- Social Awareness and Relationship Skills — outcome: instruction changes it
Related Claims¶
- Elevated ADHD traits are associated with weaker communicative perspective-taking in adolescents — related
- Interference suppression, but not response inhibition, relates to academic achievement and schooling skills — related
- Adolescents with weaker communicative perspective-taking report worse peer relations — related
- Working memory is the strongest predictor of adolescents' communicative perspective-taking — related
- Working memory accounts for the relation between ADHD traits and communicative perspective-taking — related
- Total childhood ADHD symptoms predict longer adolescent SSRT, but neither symptom domain shows specificity and early precursors do not predict SSRT — related
- In discipline-specific exploratory regressions, neither Stroop RT cost nor complex No-Go accuracy significantly predicted science or maths misconception measures separately — related
