Quasi-experimental school study: practice groups in grades 4-7 took a 15-minute initial test, 90 minutes of practice in periods of varying length, and a 15-minute final test; no-practice control groups took only the two tests. The article reports pupils "gained about SO per cent in the number of examples correct" and average gains per group by two scoring methods.
"It seems therefore safe to say that school pupils, taken as they are found, will gain nearly one per cent a minute in amount done correctly from an hour's distributed practice in adding, and will maintain or improve the percentage of correct answers in their total product."
