q3 i? Literacy was associated with all three functional status measures in core models, but in fully adjusted models total literacy was only associated with instrumental activities of daily living and self-reported mobility disability. → Bennett JS 2012

Cross-sectional regression of three self-report functional measures (basic ADL, instrumental ADL, mobility disability) in 556 older adults. After adding income and chronic conditions, the basic ADL association was no longer significant while "instrumental activities of daily living and self-report mobility disability" associations persisted.
"However, in the fully adjusted models, total literacy was only associated with instrumental activities of daily living and self-report mobility disability. The results were similar for health literacy."
