Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q2 i3 Students reporting more strategies made fewer commission errors (r = −.40) and showed lower reaction-time variability/Tau (r = −.34) on Go-No-Go; control and monitoring subscales were not associated with behavioural task performance. → Mulvihill 2025

Study Two (N = 83) correlating MAKQ dimensions with computerised behavioural attention tasks (Go-No-Go, Flanker, PRP). Strategy knowledge related to inhibitory control with r = −.40 (exceeding the |r| ≥ .37 threshold) but "not distractor inhibition or multitasking ability"; the self-perception subscales showed no significant associations.

"students who reported a greater number of metacognitive strategies to self-regulate attention made fewer errors, r = −.40, p = < 0.001, and demonstrated lower reaction time variability (i.e., Tau), r = −.34, p =.002, on the Go-No-Go task. The MAKQ meta-attention control and meta-attention monitoring subscales were not associated with student performance on behavioural attentional tasks."
