Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i? No relation was found between mindset and the ERN: none of the Mindset interactions or the Mindset main effect was significant in the 0–100 ms window. → Schroder Hans S. 2017
Evidence¶
Schroder Hans S. 2017¶
Schroder Hans S., Fisher Megan E., Lin Yanli, Lo Sharon L., Danovitch Judith H., Moser Jason S. (2017). Neural evidence for enhanced attention to mistakes among school-aged children with a growth mindset. Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dcn.2017.01.004
q3 · i? · associational · r2
Repeated-measures ANOVA on ERN (0–100 ms post-response) across five midline sites in the 123-child sample, with mindset as continuous covariate. All Mindset interactions were non-significant (e.g., Site x Mindset: F(4, 484) = 0.43, p = 0.79); "we found no relation between Mindset and the ERN".
"The main effect of Mindset was also not significant (F(1, 121) = 0.83, p = 0.37, η2p = 0.007). In sum, consistent with our previous adult study (Moser et al., 2011), we found no relation between Mindset and the ERN."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Growth mindset endorsement is associated with larger Pe amplitude (greater attention to errors) in school-aged children
- Children showed post-error slowing, unaffected by growth mindset, and no baseline post-error accuracy effect — related
- Growth mindset endorsement is associated with higher post-error accuracy but not post-correct accuracy in children — related
