Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q3 i2 Student satisfaction is higher under PBL than LBL in surgical education, with a pooled SMD of 0.92 in the results section. → Zheng Qi-Ming 2023

Meta-analysis of three articles (8 studies) of student satisfaction, 846 cases (417 PBL, 429 LBL), random-effects model due to heterogeneity (I²=94.2%). The pooled result favored PBL: "SMD = 0.92, 95% CI: 0.32 ~ 1.53, P = 0.003". Satisfaction items include learning interest and collaboration motivations.

"The results showed that the student satisfaction in the PBL group was better than that in the LBL group (SMD = 0.92, 95% CI: 0.32 ~ 1.53, P = 0.003) (Fig. 3d)."
