Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q2 i? Raters identified the intended learner of shortlisted-system videos well above the 33.3% chance baseline, and the gap held in a mixed-effects logistic regression. → Lin 2026 q2 i? Human-made videos were identified more often than system videos, but the difference was not statistically significant. → Lin 2026 (2)

q2 · i? · associational · r2

Persona-identification study: 69 Prolific raters chose which of three candidate personas a video was made for (chance 33.3%). Experimental-group videos (ten shortlisted systems) were identified "well above this baseline"; the static-retrieval baseline sat at chance. A mixed-effects logistic regression with random intercepts for video and rater confirmed the gap.

"In total, 69 Prolific raters contributed 214 ratings, summarized in Figure 5. For the persona-independent baseline, the intended learner is identified only at the chance level. For the experimental group, it is identified well above this baseline, so their adaptation is perceptible to raters."

Comparison against the human-video topline (eight Creative Commons videos with researcher-assigned best-fit personas): no statistically significant difference from the experimental group; equivalence was not tested.

"The learner persona in the human-video group is identified more often than in the experimental group, but the difference is not statistically significant."
