Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i1 Treatment group (PF) and teacher experience each had significant positive main effects on far transfer scores (η² = .032 and η² = .031), with no significant interaction. → Jacobson 2017

Two-way ANOVA on the post-test-only robot gold mining far transfer problem, a topic not associated with any computer model used in the intervention, in the quasi-experiment with 110 students. Both main effects were significant (η² = .032 and η² = .031); the interaction was not.
"For the “robot mining” far transfer problem on the post-test, a two-way ANOVA revealed that there was a significant main effect of treatment group (F(1,106) = 3.554, p = .031, one-tailed, = .032) and a significant main effect of teacher experience (F(1,106) = 3.382, p = .035, one-tailed, = .031)."

Related Claims¶
- Ninth-grade students in a Productive Failure design scored significantly higher than Direct Instruction students on complex systems explanatory knowledge about climate — related
- PF students scored significantly higher than DI students on near transfer (butterfly effect problem) — related
- PF students outperformed direct-instruction students on conceptual understanding and transfer without compromising procedural fluency — a broader claim this one bears on
- Students who compared a climate model with non-climate analog models during productive failure scored significantly higher on far across domain transfer than students who used only the climate model — related
