Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i? Most participants produced diagrams with basic well-formed geometry (circles/ovals and squares/rectangles comprising 80% of diagrams), exceeding chance. → Marije van Amelsvoort 2016

q2 · i? · causal · r?
Production study with 20 first-year bachelor students drawing argument diagrams on a whiteboard from pre-given for/against argument cards. A binomial test showed "the proportion of wellformedness of .80 was higher than the expected .50, p = .012"; no effect size was printed.
"As expected, Table 1 shows that most of the diagrams have a basic geometry: circles/ovals (as in Fig. 4a) and squares/rectangles (as in Fig. 4b) comprised 80 % of all diagrams. We performed binomial tests for all the main categories, testing the occurrence of perceptual cues against chance. A binomial test indicated that the proportion of wellformedness of .80 was higher than the expected .50, p = .012."
