Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q3 i1 In a class-randomised controlled trial of 1858 pupils in 30 schools, the ReflectED intervention group showed a moderate effect size of 0.30 (95% CI -0.04 to 0.63) on age-standardised InCAS mathematics scores, which was not statistically significant. → Motteram et al. 2016

Class-randomised controlled trial (38 intervention classes, 32 control classes) using CEM InCAS age-standardised mathematics scores with a two-level multi-level model. The complete-case Hedges g was 0.30 (-0.04, 0.63, p = 0.08) and the imputed analysis gave "0.27"; the report concludes there is "no statistically significant difference".

"It is also evident that there is no statistically significant difference between students who have received the ReflectED treatment and students who have not. The intervention effect size is moderate, (i.e. 0.3 with the confidence interval -0.04 to 0.63)."
