Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i? In science, the treatment effect peaks at a frequency of three or four times per week, while every-day frequency does not show a significant increase relative to assigning homework up to one or two times per week. → Nathan McJames 2023

Results from the multivariate Bayesian Causal Forests analysis of the TIMSS 2019 Irish sample, shown in Figure 2 and Table 2. Table 2 prints the science ATE for three or four times per week as 5.49 (2.62, 8.44) and for every day as -1.83 (-5.60, 1.93), supporting the conclusion that "the optimal homework frequency in science is three or four times per week".
"In science, however, the effect size peaks at three or four times per week before reaching a frequency of every day which does not show a significant increase relative to assigning homework up to one or two times per week."

Related Claims¶
- Daily mathematics homework raises eighth-grade mathematics achievement by about 7.36 TIMSS units relative to homework up to one or two times per week — related
- Increasing homework duration beyond fifteen minutes shows no clear benefit for mathematics or science achievement — related
- Students from advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds do not benefit significantly more from homework than their peers in eighth grade — related
- Homework frequency is more important than homework duration for improving eighth-grade mathematics and science achievement — related
