Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q2 i3 In meta-analysis of trials assessing objective skill scores, simulation was associated with a large standardized improvement of 1.68 points on a five-point scale. → O'Dwyer M 2022

q2 · i3 · quant-synthesis · r3

Random-effects meta-analysis of seven studies (14 groups) comparing five-point-scale skill scores before versus after simulation. The pooled standardized improvement was "1.68 points" (95 per cent c.i. 1.23 to 2.13; P < 0.001), with I2 = 77 per cent and individual effect sizes from 0.51 to 3.14 points.

"Trainees who used simulation had an associated improvement of 1.68 points (95 per cent c.i. 1.23 to 2.13; P < 0.001) (Fig. 4)."
