q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i3 In NH controls, Subset RPM scores computed from the same 12 items correlated with Harvard Standard sentences (r = .56) and PRESTO sentences (r = .49). → Mattingly Jameson K MD 2018

Replication analysis in the 43 normal-hearing controls using the same 12 RPM items identified in the CI group, reported in Results. Subset scores were "positively correlated with the percent correct on Harvard Standard sentences" (r = .56) and PRESTO sentences (r = .49), with z-tests showing magnitudes similar to the 48-item version.
"In NH controls, Subset RPM scores were also positively correlated with the percent correct on Harvard Standard sentences (r = .56, p > .001), and PRESTO sentences (r = .49, p = .001)."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- An abbreviated 12-item RPM subset predicts sentence recognition in CI users with comparable validity to the full 48-item test — related
- CI users answered fewer RPM items correctly than normal-hearing controls, though both groups attempted similar numbers of items — related
- Nonverbal reasoning (RPM) scores are positively correlated with sentence recognition in post-lingually deafened adult cochlear implant users — related
- Nonverbal reasoning scores also correlate with degraded (noise-vocoded) sentence recognition in age-matched normal-hearing listeners — a broader claim this one bears on
