Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i1 University students' second-order judgements correlated negatively with calibration accuracy (r = -.197, p = .002): less confident students showed higher miscalibration. → Marloes L. Nederhand 2021

q3 · i1 · associational · r2
Postdiction study of 251 second-year psychology students who estimated their educational psychology exam grade and rated confidence in the estimate on a five-point scale. Calibration was the absolute difference between estimated and actual grade; the correlation was "r = −.197, p = .002".
"Results among university students showed a significant negative correlation between subjective confidence (SOJ) and calibration accuracy r = −.197, p = .002, confirming our hypothesis."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Among secondary school students, calibration accuracy is unrelated to confidence in performance estimates across French, Math, and German exams — related
- Subjective confidence ratings did not differ between performance quartiles for university or secondary school students, failing to replicate Miller and Geraci — reports the opposite
- Students in the Reflection condition became more confident in their grade estimates over the school year, unlike students in the Practice and Grade comparison conditions — related
