q1 i? In the New Hampshire one-room school case record, a very strong teacher was the one redeeming feature and kept efficiency relatively high, and two years later a lower-rated teacher left the school at only 68⅔ per cent efficiency despite improvement elsewhere. → Ernest C. Witham 1913

Case-study records of a small one-room school in New Hampshire, rated four years earlier when "It was only an apology for a school" until a very strong teacher took charge, and again two years later. The later graph shows improvement in most respects but lower efficiency because of the teacher's rating.
"The graph shows a marked improvement in most respects, but owing to the fact that the teacher's rating is considerably below that of her predecessor, the efficiency of the school is only G8y3 per cent."
