Description¶
The DMO-GRU framework combines the Dwarf Mongoose Optimization algorithm with a Gated Recurrent Unit neural network. DMO performs feature selection and automatic hyperparameter tuning (learning rate, dropout, number of hidden units), while the GRU captures temporal patterns in student learning data. The article states that "our hybrid DMO-GRU model makes use of DMO's worldwide search capabilities" to improve GRU's learning process and produce more precise forecasts of student engagement and performance. The authors position the integration as suited to noisy, sparse or irregular educational data and as promoting individualized, adaptive learning.
