Description¶
MFRM, developed by Linacre in 1989 as an extension of the partial credit model, is an IRT model in which "all so urces of variability , such as raters, items and persons, which have the potential to influence measurement results , are considered simultaneously". It places all facets on a common logit metric, detects rater errors such as halo effects and central tendency, provides separate standard errors per facet element, and estimates abilities and item parameters independently when model-data fit is attained.
Accounts¶
- Many-Facet Rasch Model (MFRM): MFRM, developed by Linacre in 1989 as an extension of the partial credit model, is an IRT model in which "all so urces of variability , such as raters, items and persons, which have the potential to influence measurement results , are considered simultaneously". It places all facets on a common logit metric, detects rater errors such as halo effects and central tendency, provides separate standard errors per facet element, and estimates abilities and item parameters independently when model-data fit is attained. (Ilhan et al. (2018))
Claims¶
- Raters differed significantly in severity/leniency in the MFRM analysis [+M]
- CTT and MFRM yield a positive, perfect correlation between item difficulty indices for open-ended items under a crossed design [+M]
- CTT and MFRM yield similar item difficulty results for open-ended questions regardless of crossed or nested design [+W]
- Items ranked from easiest to most difficult are identical under CTT and MFRM [+W]
