Description

Adapting Newell's bands taxonomy from cognitive science, the article proposes that SRL phenomena be matched to the time scale at which they are theorized to occur: cognitive-band events over seconds observed with trace methodologies and think-alouds, rational-band events over minutes to hours including strategy changes and motivation fluctuations, and social-band contextual factors enduring over weeks and months. "Combining measures that span more than one band provides a rich account of SRL." Table 1 maps each special-issue study's measures to bands.
