Description¶
The article operationalizes transactivity as reasoning made explicit that builds on prior reasoning in a discussion. As printed, "our operationalization of transactivity is defined as the process of building on an idea expressed earlier in a conversation using a reasoning statement." Transacts are self-oriented when they operate on the speaker's own prior reasoning and other-oriented when they operate on a partner's reasoning; other-oriented transacts are treated as particularly central to group knowledge integration. Coding proceeds in steps distinguishing reasoning from non-reasoning statements, externalizations from transactive contributions, and self- from other-oriented transacts.
Accounts¶
