Description¶
In the implementation phase, the project found that programs sometimes struggled to use alumni survey findings to reflect on current practices and find space for healing beyond further connecting with alumni. The stated solution is to build in strategies for future data use in initial conversations. A companion strategy, trust the process, holds that when community members drive a process, facilitators go at their pace, sometimes.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Build in strategies for future data use during initial conversations with programs
Constraints¶
- Programs sometimes found it difficult to use the findings collected to reflect on current practices and find space for healing beyond further connecting with alumni
- Community-driven processes move at the community's pace
Target Learners¶
- high school program staff and alumni in equity-focused school communities
Target Learning Goals¶
- using alumni survey findings for program reflection and improvement
Related Strategies¶
- In co-design meetings, position community members as experts and create space for challenging ideas, including adapting survey questions to community feedback.
- Form design teams by building trust and relationships and prioritizing meaningful representation before project kick-off.
- Discovery-phase data collection: surveys, listening sessions, and project inventories to map the current system
