Description¶
The article indicates that sustainability of SWPBIS depends on "strong leadership at the school and district levels, onsite and ongoing coaching to support high quality implementation, evidence that SWPBIS can be implemented and incorporated into everyday practice, and evidence of the impact or efficacy of SWPBIS." In the trial, this was operationalized as annual 2-day summer booster training events for school teams, plus state-coordinated day-long coach training events four times each year, and all 21 trained schools sustained high fidelity implementation for the trial duration.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- School and district leadership, onsite ongoing coaching, and evidence of implementability and impact
Constraints¶
- Having some elements of SWPBIS in place without training was not sufficient for sustainable implementation; comparison schools implemented some elements but did not sustain them
Target Learners¶
- elementary school staff and SWPBIS team members
Target Learning Goals¶
- sustained high-fidelity implementation of a schoolwide behavior model
