Require a brief certification questionnaire to filter vendor pitches¶
Strategy · All strategies
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
Because vendors bombard decision makers with pitches that consume enormous time and lead leaders to disregard many of them, the report recommends requiring vendors to respond to a brief questionnaire asking which Product Certifications they have earned, including the Open Badge. This cuts down hours spent listening and responding to pitches and helps "elevate research-based products that are learner-centered to the top for meaningful conversation."
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Vendors must respond to the questionnaire before receiving pitch time
- Submissions should include the Open Badge confirming the certification has not expired
Constraints¶
Target Learners¶
- district and school edtech decision makers
Target Learning Goals¶
- efficiently screening vendor products for quality before committing evaluation time
Related Strategies¶
- Embed certification-status questions with evidence requirements in RFPs and RFAs
- Offer templates and exemplars to streamline edtech review requests for vendors and staff
