Conclude with a choreography-and-analysis final project in place of a final exam¶
Strategy · All strategies
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
In lieu of a final exam, student groups create a simple choreography, record and analyze its components with the tools developed over the quarter, perform it, give a talk on their analysis, and perform the dance again. The authors call this "a culminating opportunity where students are acquainted with the parallel activities of analysis and repetition that characterize both the creative and the experimental process."
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Students must have accumulated experience with choreographic craft, experiment design, data recording, analysis, and conclusion-making across the quarter
Constraints¶
- Replaces a final exam rather than supplementing one
Target Learners¶
- non-science-major undergraduates
Target Learning Goals¶
- scientific process skills
- creative and analytical integration
