Develop collaboratively built, lean, and flexible standards with judicious data demands for community schools certification¶
Strategy · All strategies

Description¶
The report recommends that certification standards be "lean and focused—capturing the essential elements of implementation with clearly defined nonnegotiables and sufficient flexibility to allow for different contexts," and created or revised through a collaborative, consensus-building process involving multiple stakeholders. Data requested for certification should be accessible, collectible, and not overly duplicative of other required reporting, and monitoring should capture implementation and student experiences, whole child factors, and realistic expectations based on school maturity.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Standards must establish clear guardrails, a common language, and benchmarks for achieving certification while allowing local flexibility.
Constraints¶
- Because community schools are designed around local assets and needs, a certification process cannot be overly prescriptive.
Target Learners¶
- K-12 students in community schools
Target Learning Goals¶
- quality implementation
- stakeholder buy-in and consistency
