Implement CW-FIT as 30- to 60-minute sessions three to four times per week, fading monitoring and rewards as behavior improves¶

Description¶
The report's implementation guidance specifies that teachers implement CW-FIT during whole-class instruction or independent/small-group work, scheduling 30- to 60-minute sessions three to four times per week during periods when students typically demonstrate disruptive behaviors. Teachers "can decrease their monitoring of target behaviors and provide fewer opportunities for rewards as student behavior improves." In the contributing studies, teachers implemented the intervention once per day in six studies and three to five times a week in the other two.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Teachers monitor student behavior at regular time intervals and award points if all members of a team are displaying the target skills, recording totals on a chart visible to all students
Constraints¶
- This frequency of sessions should be maintained over time, although monitoring can decrease as behavior improves
Target Learners¶
- students in prekindergarten through grade 12
Target Learning Goals¶
- reducing disruptive behavior
- increasing on-task behavior
Related Strategies¶
- Provide additional targeted supports — self-monitoring charts or help cards — for students with significant skill challenges
- Good Behavior Game
