Edit ambiguous student questions into clear, directive prompts before posing them to ChatGPT¶
Strategy · All strategies

Description¶
When student questions were posed to ChatGPT in raw form, some were unclear or lacked context, so the prompts were made clear and directive before evaluation. For example, rather than "Why don't enzymes work?", the more specific question "Why don't enzymes work at high temperatures?" was used. These modifications made the model answer more specific and understandable, and no additional information was added to the prompts.
Design Implications¶

- Prompts must be edited in advance to increase clarity, without adding additional information to the prompts.
Constraints¶
- Each response given by the model was evaluated only in its initial form; no additional corrections or response revisions were requested from ChatGPT.
Target Learners¶
- undergraduate biology laboratory students
Target Learning Goals¶
- obtaining accurate and specific answers to laboratory questions from AI assistants
