Embed growth-mindset messages framing technological competence as developable into existing curricula as a low-cost, broad-reach intervention¶

Description¶
Because growth mindset in technology was the most consistent psychological predictor of AI literacy — predicting four of the five subdimensions — and such beliefs are malleable, the article recommends embedding messages that technological competence is developable through effort into existing curricula. It calls this "the intervention with the broadest reach relative to the effort required", applicable regardless of students' initial resources or prior digital experience.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Messages must frame technological competence as developable through effort and be embedded in existing curricula
Constraints¶
- The article notes this implication derives from cross-sectional correlational data and has not been tested experimentally; randomized training programs are proposed as future work
Target Learners¶
- undergraduate university students across diverse learner populations
Target Learning Goals¶
- AI literacy
- growth mindset in technology
- engagement with AI systems
