Description¶
The authors' design recommendations for future AI-audio tools, drawn from the qualitative integration: (1) deliberate silence engineered after case scenarios and between questions and answers to force retrieval practice and reduce cognitive load; (2) a visual companion such as a one-page key-point PDF to address the friability of audio learning; and (3) continued refinement of AI prosody to reduce monotony, which was identified as a barrier to sustained attention.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Audio production tooling must support inserting deliberate silences at scripted points and pairing audio with downloadable visual companions.
Constraints¶
- These refinements are recommended on the basis of qualitative feedback and hypothesised cognitive-load mechanisms; the article notes experimental comparisons of continuous versus segmented audio remain future research.
Target Learners¶
- Undergraduate medical students using mobile, self-directed revision resources
Target Learning Goals¶
- Sustained engagement and long-term retention of revised content
