Description¶
The report's roadmap directs state and district leaders to move "beyond highlighting these inequities to proactively addressing them" through five steps: establish data systems and examine disparities; determine whether disparities are within- or between-district and engage teachers on root causes; set clear goals and interim measures; implement data-based policy solutions; and commit to ongoing data transparency, monitoring, and accountability. Policy options include strengthening school leaders, residency and Grow Your Own programs, differential pay, earlier hiring, and mentoring for novice teachers.
