Focusing techniques for checking a text during drafting and revision¶
Strategy · All strategies
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
The paper recommends developing a set of focusing techniques against which the writer measures what is being produced, both during writing and later with an eye to revising. It predicts that "continued use of foctsing techniques inrev:sing would lead to the formation of new writing habits' and tt the need for revision would dwindle". The criteria underlying the strategies are complex enough that writers cannot hold them all in mind at once, so the techniques serve as external checks on decisions about arrangement at all levels.
Design Implications¶
