Reform academic governance through interventions on governance architectures, people, and technologies/resources¶

Description¶
The article prescribes a three-part reform agenda for academic governance in the GenAI era: "Interventions are required with governance architectures (policies, committees, etc.), people (students and staff), and technologies/resources (used for administration and learning)". Architecture reforms include updating policies, procedures and guidance notes and possibly augmenting committee structures with standing or working groups holding integrity and cyber security expertise. People reforms require dedicated training and resources for all members engaged in governance roles, and technology governance is described as an intrinsic part of higher education rather than a mere vertical or enabler.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- A holistic institutional vision or position making clear the philosophical position on academic integrity
- Dedicated training and resources for all members engaged in governance roles
Constraints¶

Target Learners¶
- higher education students
- university staff and governance bodies
Target Learning Goals¶
- academic integrity
- assessment quality
- technology literacy
Related Strategies¶
- Foster communities of practice for AI governance instead of rigid top-down policies
- Apply red teaming (adversarial penetration testing) to expose vulnerabilities in assessment integrity
