Introduce the ACRL Framework early in the capstone cycle to allow time to digest and connect it to research work¶

Description¶
The authors recommend introducing the ACRL Framework at the beginning of the capstone project rather than mid-cycle, so participants can explore and reflect on it throughout the research process. One participant reported it was "very hard to digest" after its January introduction and asked for another session. Earlier introduction would give participants time to digest the concepts and more opportunities to connect their work to the framework.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Capstone course structure with room for framework exploration across the research process
Constraints¶
- Mid-cycle introduction left one participant without enough time to digest the concepts
Target Learners¶
- graduate science teacher education students in capstone courses
Target Learning Goals¶
- information literacy competency reflection
- integration of the ACRL Framework with research practice
