Guide students to select, match, and adapt writing strategies to situations¶
Strategy · All strategies
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
Beyond teaching strategies, the guide has students learn when and why to use them: "Match a list of strategies with a list of situations in which they can be used. Ask students to participate in matching." Students can add situations, including ones from other content areas, set goals for using strategies in listed situations, and discuss how strategies can be modified for different situations. An example wall chart pairs strategies such as POW, self-monitoring, and peer revising with situations such as brainstorming ideas for a newspaper article.
