Description¶
Equatio Mathspace provides workflows for receiving student submissions and giving feedback, supporting the UDL checkpoint on mastery-oriented feedback. One teacher collected responses to a multi-slide Mathspace assignment and provided specific feedback to each student per slide; another used Equatio within his school's learning management system, reporting that "[Equatio] allows them to show their entire process, all of their work. And then I can send them feedback in the moment." He monitors students' Google Doc responses as they work and provides in-the-moment feedback or conversations with individuals or small groups.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Student access to Equatio and, for the LMS workflow, integration with Google Docs within the school's learning management system
Constraints¶
- Based on teacher reports from two teacher partners (fifth grade and high school algebra/precalculus); the report does not measure feedback effects on student outcomes
Target Learners¶
- Grade 4-12 mathematics students
Target Learning Goals¶
- Timely, specific feedback on mathematical work; showing full solution processes
