Provide on-campus one-stop benefits screening, application assistance, and case management to reduce nonacademic barriers to persistence

Description

The strategy connects enrolled students to federal, state, and local benefits (food stamps, WIC, Medicaid) plus wraparound services (tax preparation, financial counseling, legal services, child care, housing) through on-campus coordinators. Coordinators conduct preliminary screening "to determine whether they qualify for federal, state, or local benefits", then provide application assistance and follow up, advocating with agencies if a student is wrongly denied. This is the intervention model whose implementation the WWC reviewed.
