Plan for device distribution delays and extend engagement duration in practitioner advisory partnerships¶

Description¶
Based on the advisory board's first six months, the authors recommend that RPIP-style partnerships plan for procurement and contracting delays, since device distribution depends on factors outside the industry partner's control. In the absence of devices, the board could consider and discuss use cases, examples of specific situations where the device could be used. They also suggest longer engagement, since one practitioner said six months might be too short, to enable device engagement and deeper discussions.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- An industry partner willing to engage educators and researchers iteratively in its design process
Constraints¶
- The paper notes this engagement is just a small step toward the full potential of participatory research and design, and calls for centering historically excluded voices and partnering with students
Target Learners¶
- practicing K-12 educators
Target Learning Goals¶
- effective practitioner engagement in edtech design
