Use process mapping and warm handoffs to connect students to supports across offices¶

Description¶
The guide recommends process mapping, in which staff and students document the processes and requirements students must complete as they progress toward graduation, then share experiences to identify gaps and overlaps in supports. When sending a student to another department, the panel "believes strongly that advisors should provide a “warm handoff” by introducing the student to their colleague in another office," which requires student support staff who know how other offices operate. This ensures students do not feel like just another number in a different office.
