Description

A design recommendation drawn from the study's finding that at least a fifth of queries ask where a pending submission has reached rather than request information. The authors recommend that "Making the state of a pending process visible to participants would remove the largest single source of volume without anyone answering more questions", drawing on service-operations evidence that operational transparency changes how waiting is experienced even when duration is unchanged. A participant who can see a certificate is received and queued for checking already holds the information the query would have sought.
