Description¶
For fluency building, structure repeated reading so each reread has a distinct purpose rather than mere speed practice. "The panel recommends having students reread the same passage a total of 3–4 times, each time with a different purpose." Purposes include reading with expression, answering questions, identifying unknown words, or reflecting on what was learned; after each reading the teacher briefly discusses responses to hold students accountable.
