Schedule reading after experimentation so students read with a genuine need to know

Description

The guide places text reading (Lesson 7) after students have run experiments and encountered disagreements in their findings, so that "When students have different results in their experiments, they will be motivated to read because they have a genuine 'need to know.'" Teachers provide age-appropriate materials such as short online articles, trade books, or textbook excerpts; students collect unfamiliar vocabulary into a growing word list, write definitions in their own words (emergent multilinguals may use their language of choice), and use the reading to settle disagreements.
